Research nach oben

My principal research interests lie in the field of late Ottoman social history of children and youth. My scholarly work is in close contact with gender, sexuality, and non-Muslims. My current research focuses on the social history of the First World War in the Ottoman lands. I dwell upon children and youth as legitimate partakers, actors and witnesses of Ottoman political action, state and society, and generally the experience of war. I also have a parallel research on women suicides in Istanbul during and after the war.
